Masintín, Blanco di Itata 2023

Masintin is part of a new wave of Chilean producers rediscovering the historic vineyards of the Itata Valley. Working with very old bush vines and traditional farming methods, the project focuses on preserving Chile’s viticultural heritage while embracing a gentle, low-intervention philosophy in the cellar. This blend of 61% Moscatel and 39% Sémillon from old vines in the Itata Valley is wonderfully aromatic and textured. Aged like a sherry, with a layer of flor in the ex-Marsonnay barrels, it has floral notes of orange blossom and jasmine lift from the glass, followed by flavours of ripe pear, citrus peel and oxidative stone fruit. The palate has a gentle richness balanced by fresh acidity and a lightly savoury edge, giving the wine both charm and complexity. A beautifully expressive white that shows the personality and history of southern Chile’s old vineyards.
